Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM)

EIM requires anyone involved in a ministry with minors (those under the age of 18) or vulnerable adults (those who are uniquely vulnerable to abuse because of physical or mental disabilities) is required to:

Submit a Ministry Application to the Diocese of Austin

Agree to a criminal background check

Attend a workshop on “Protecting God’s Children,” a seminar on child sexual abuse

MIDDLE SCHOOL YOUTH - ARE YOU READY FOR:

EDGE

With the start-up of the LIFE TEEN program for the high school youth, the middle school youth are asking, "What about us?" Well just wait, it will be coming soon. The EDGE program is designed with you in mind. We are currently looking at it, and if all goes well, we will be kicking the program off in the Spring of 2008. Below is just a little information about the program.

EDGE is a Catholic middle school youth ministry for early adolescents in grades six, seven and eight. It is designed to meet the educational, spiritual, emotional, and social needs of young adolescents.

EDGE combines the best of Life Teen:

Experiential

The best of religious education program

Each semester has a catechetical theme

Small group model-middle school youth are paired with the same CORE members and other middle schoolers for the entire year.

Goals of EDGE:

Foster a transforming spiritual experience of Jesus through the liturgy, allowing early adolescents to have a profound experience the Word of God and the Eucharist.

Create a positive experience of the Catholic Church for early adolescents.

Assist middle school youngsters in gaining an understanding and appreciation for what the Catholic Church teaches as believes.

Incorporate the Catholic Church's vision of social justice and peace into their spiritual life.

Develop an identity in middle school youth and in EDGE ministry as being a vital and visual presence within the parish.
